College 2

So, it's been a while since I last updated this thing.  I'm still in college.  Lot's of things have happened since my last update.  For instance, I got hit on by a crack head.  That was a first time experience for me.  I was playing basketball at Wilson Park with a friend when this girl came up and just started watching us play.  Eventually she started to talk.  I knew something was wrong with the girl when the first thing she told us was that she was bipolar.  It just went down hill from there.  I'm pretty sure she was still under the influence of something.

So, anyway college is going ok.  Class is hard as  usual, and as usual I'm behind, and as usual things are about to pick up tremendous speed.  I've decided to rush, and I somehow got my parents on board with the idea.  Sometimes I even amaze myself.  They are both against fraternities.  Rush is next week, and from the stories I've heard it's going to be interesting.  I'm looking forward to it.  I have a feeling things are about to start to come together.

It seems like just sitting back and seeing what's available to be involved in is about to pay off.  I'm going to rush Farm House, I'm getting involved in Collegiate 4-H/FFA, I've been to the BCM and have decided it's a fun place to be, I like my sunday school class too so I guess I'm going to be one of those Methodist/Baptist people.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch my major to soil and water science in the Dale Bumpers College of Ag.  So I'm planning on getting involved in the Bumpers College Ambassador thing, but I need to talk to Ashley Harris about all that.  So even though things have started slow, and have had a huge roller coaster ride, I think they're about to come together.  I might even try to do choir next semester.  That would be cool.  But first I've somehow got to figure out how to stay caught up on homework.  I'm still behind in Chem, and I'm behind in Cal., but I think I've figured out how to get caught up and stay caught up.

So wish me luck with all of my future plans, the ones mentioned and the ones not mentioned.  I think I may update this thing in another month or 63, who knows.  I guess it's just when I remember it's here.  Hahaha, have a good one.

God Bless,

Michael

College

So, I'm finally here.  I am in college.  Classes haven't started, but I'm in college.  It's going pretty good I think.  It's definitely different. Coming out of high school where you know everybody, and don't have to worry about meeting new people, and here I don't know many people at all, but it's all good. There's a couple of people from my school here and people I know from other things.  And they are great because I don't know what I'd do without them.  This is only the third day.  I'm looking forward to the rest of it.

Speechless

Alright, so I got back from my backpacking trip in New Mexico yesterday, and I must say it was awesome.  We had to have hiked over 20 miles in 5 days.  Probably close to 18 in 3 days.  At different points I was above 12,000 ft.  I even climed a mountain and the views were awesome.  And I got to see a lot of 4-H people and make new friends so that's always good.  But yesterday I was on my way home and I got one of those calls.

Boring to Great Times

The week after my last entry was about the most boring week I'd had all summer.  Which since it was the week after camp, it usually is the most boring week of the year.  I'd go to bed about midnight, wake up (wide awake) at 6 and think "Ok, let's go!", but there was nothing to do. Anyways, State O Rama was last week and it most definitely was not the most boring week of the summer.  I got to see all of my 4-H people.  The officer elections were crazy.  Everyone was very qualified.  However I am filled with a deep satisfaction towards our officer team.  It's going to be awesome.  I know every other officer has been listing the team on their xanga, but I'm going to as well:  We've got Ms. Sydney Steeley at Officer at Large, Mr. Jef W/ I F Fergusen at Officer at Large, Ms. Catherine Connolly at Officer at Large, Ms. Kendra Boling at Officer at Large, Mr. Josh Harris at SE Vice President, Mr. Drew Hawthorne at SW Vice President, Ms. Jamie Lynch at NW Vice President, Me at NE Vice President, and Ms. Amanda Simpson at President.

I also just got back from Wayland Springs.  I only spent one night there, but it was great.  We had the whole camp to ourselves.  In the process of about 5 hours we managed to be men.  We played some Halo, bit into Dr. Thunder cans, surrounded Jacob in an inferno (sadly I did not see it, but I did see the amazingly bright flash at the window, flames were reportedly 10 ft. from the fire pit), made napom, burned a batch of cookies, grilled steak and shrimp, and made some Mac and Cheese.  Then we went to sleep in good old Cabin 6.  It was my first time to stay there, but I enjoyed it.  And then today Chris and I got our scholarships, $1,500 a piece.

That's about it.  Maybe I'll update again in a week or two, or maybe a month or two, or mayber another seven months or two, or maybe a day or two.  Who knows.  Talk to yall later.

Michael

Oh yeah, there's a backpacking trip in New Mexico this week. Sweet!
